EVENT:
Celebration on the Hill
CLIENT:
American Cancer Society
OVERVIEW:
The American Cancer Society, a longstanding
client of ours, has an incredible ability to draw
out a crowd in the Hartford area – in any weather.
While almost all the events we assist in producing
for ACS are annual, this one-time occurrence was special
for its powerful message. While legislators were in
session, the ACS engaged Event Resources to assist
with all of the logistics of an event that took place
in Bushnell Park and the lawn right in front of the
Capitol Building. In an effort to encourage legislators
to realize the importance and the impact of cancer
research and raise money, ACS encouraged the public
to “purchase” a luminary to be placed
in a long pattern leading from the Capitol Building
to the park. The finished product was an awe-inspiring
image – the words “hope” and “cure”
written in luminaries in front of a building in which
lawmakers had the power to give more resources to
cancer research. ERI assisted in the logistical planning
of this event, as well as providing tables, chairs,
tenting, and sound and lighting systems. Lastly, we
interfaced with the Park and Recreation Department
and local city services to insure the event was safe
and comfortable for everyone.
